Preserving the Timeless Art of Kashmiri Shawl Making
For centuries, the shawls of Kashmir have been celebrated as some of the finest textiles in the world. At Shawls For Her, we honour this legacy by bringing authentic, handcrafted pieces directly from the master artisans of the Kashmir Valley to discerning collectors worldwide.
Born from a Love for Kashmiri Craftsmanship
Shawls For Her was founded with a singular vision: to bridge the gap between the remarkable artisans of the Kashmir Valley and those who appreciate the beauty of their craft. Our journey began with frequent visits to the workshops of Srinagar, where we witnessed firsthand the extraordinary skill and dedication that goes into every handwoven piece.
We recognised that these exquisite creations deserved a wider audience, and that the artisans who create them deserved fair recognition and compensation. Today, we work directly with families who have practised this art for generations, ensuring every shawl in our collection is authentic, ethically sourced, and of the highest quality.

Masters of an Ancient Craft
The artisans behind our shawls are custodians of a tradition that stretches back over 600 years. These skilled craftspeople have inherited their techniques from their forebears, spending years mastering the intricate art of Kashmiri weaving, embroidery, and dyeing.
A single Kani shawl can take anywhere from six months to several years to complete, requiring extraordinary patience and precision. Our Sozni embroidered pieces are worked entirely by hand, with needle artists creating impossibly fine patterns that tell stories of Kashmiri life and nature.
We are proud to partner with over 40 artisan families across the Kashmir Valley, providing them with fair wages and sustainable livelihoods while helping to preserve their irreplaceable craft.

“Every thread we weave carries the spirit of Kashmir — its mountains, its rivers, its centuries of artistry. When you wear one of our shawls, you carry a piece of that legacy with you.”

Crafted with Care for Our Planet
Sustainability is woven into the very fabric of our business. Handcrafted textiles are inherently more sustainable than mass-produced alternatives — they require no industrial machinery, consume minimal energy, and create pieces meant to last a lifetime and beyond.
Our Pashmina shawls are made from the soft undercoat of the Changthangi goat, combed by hand during the natural moulting season without harm to the animals. We use natural dyes wherever possible and package our products in recyclable, eco-conscious materials.
By choosing a handcrafted Kashmiri shawl, you are not only investing in a timeless piece of wearable art — you are supporting sustainable practices and helping to preserve an ancient craft for future generations.
